#LondonAdventure – The Otherist – Liverpool St Station

It’s easy to sink a cocktail or three in the city with bars like the likes of Sushi Samba and Sky Garden beckoning you up from their lofty heights. But often, you can come down with an earth-shattering thud when you realize you probably should have lined your stomach before Singapore sling no.4 because pineapple chunks and glace cherries a meal does not make.

That’s why The Otherist on Old Broadstreet, as soon as you hop out of Liverpool Street Station, is a god send. The glass doors lead through to a sumptuous bar and hygge inspired interiors with bucket chairs strewn with shaggy fur blankets. It was all warm crema tones contrasting well with the grey of the banking district of the city outside. City types discussing budgets, creative types sipping coffees and tic tacing on their laptops and friend brunching over sharing plates filled the space and at 12pm the restaurant was buzzing.

Blasmin waited with a delicious foamy hazelnut latte for her friend, photographer and blogger, Adorn Girl to talk all things LFW, earphones and how to take a real good flat lay to keep the insta game strong over some delicious food and some even better prosecco.

Buttery soft flat bread piled high with shredded duck, oriental spiced and sprinkled with fresh cucumber and spring onions were shared whilst Blasmin opted for the more virtuous wilted creamed spinach and pecan crumbed salmon – perfectly cooked. Adorn Girl went for the special of swordfish with a bright and zesty cous cous salad. The sweet potato fries were crisp and the tender stem broccoli blanched and sprinkled with toasted almonds.

Stuffed, but still in need of something to extend their conversation, a pecan pie and brownie followed over a final toast of prosecco.

The Otherist: go for lunch on Friday and kick start that Friday feeling to set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

Go for dinner in the City when an itsu just won’t cut it.
