Culture Club: The Catch Up.

NOTE: This blog post has absolutely nothing to do with The Culture Club or Boy George

From my last blog post, you may have gathered that I have recently completed my final year (for now) in education at the wonderful Lancaster University (yes it’s been merely days since I’ve moved out and I’m already looking at my University days with just a  a hint of nostalgia…).

This summer, I have made it my personal mission to have a major catch up on general culture including books, music, news and films, before I take my first tentative steps into the real working adult world. This way when my colleagues talk about the crisis in Syria, book prize winners and blockbusters of the year, I can confidently make witty contributions to the conversation instead of stand there, dumb blurting out whether they too have read Harry Potter…

After much deliberation, (AKA a quick Google search) I took Richard & Judy’s advice on what books I should chomp my way through this summer and intend to studiously work my through it.

Click here for their Book club home page. I’m reading their 100 best books of the decade to pass my summer and complete my crash course in pop culture that I’ve missed out on these past years. I’ll keep you updated with any of my particular faves.

Same goes for music and film, though I suspect my imminent trip to India will make those two a little harder…

NOTE: books written in green are when I have naughtily procrastinated away from the list.
